Shawn Mendes: The Review

I have been WAITING IN ANTICIPATION FOR THIS ALBUM since I first heard 'In My Blood', which by the way, is a GREAT SONG! Shawn has been teasing this album for months and I can say that it has exceeded my expectations.
The rawness of emotions in the songs make this album his best one yet. 'In My Blood' is a song about HIS experiences with depression and anxiety, HIS emotions and HIS way of overcoming. With his growing success in the past year, it's no wonder he's been feeling so overwhelmed and I'm proud that he has shared his experience with us. Sometimes it's easy to forget that celebrities are human, just like you and I.
The album isn't all moody and about raising awareness as many might think it to be. He has his fun tracks like 'Queen'. I REALLY want to know who he's shading so hard!! It's fast approaching to becoming my favourite song on the album. 'Particular Taste' and 'Nervous' have a sound to it that isn't necessarily Shawn Mendes but it works. I feel like I haven't explained that right. His songs tend to have a key element that make it 'Shawn Mendes', but these two songs seem to overstep that boundary and I'm so glad he's experimenting with his 'sound'.
Another song I feel I should mention is 'Youth'. I mean, I LOVE the merchandise for it, but the song itself it just SO RELEVANT. With all the pain and devastation happening around us, it's good to have a reminder that it isn't all bad and we shouldn't lose ourselves along the way. 'Pain, I won't let it turn into hate' - We're all in the same ship and we're all going to get through this ocean of pain together.
My all time favourite song on the album is 'Because I Had You'. Not sure why, but it was the first song (that hadn't been released) that I was drawn to and I absolutely love the lyrics.
